Cleanings & Checkups

Regular cleanings are essential to good oral health.
Professional cleanings and routine checkups are essential to your good oral health. Dr. Snider recommends coming in for a cleaning and checkup every six months.
During a routine visit, our knowledgeable hygienists will clean and polish your teeth. Then Dr. Snider will examine your teeth using laser assisted cavity detection equipment, take digital x-rays if needed and screen your mouth for oral cancer with a special hand-held unit. If any further treatment is needed, Dr. Snider will go over your options with you and usually begin treatment that same day.

Oral Cancer Screening
Dr. Snider is using the latest, breakthrough technology to detect oral cancer. The screening unit is a hand-held device that detects various types of pre-cancerous conditions in the mouth. Screenings are performed by shining special white, blue fluorescent and amber lights inside the mouth to detect unusual and abnormal tissue growth or lesions. Screenings are done with painless light and take just minutes to complete.
Digital X-rays

Dr. Snider and his staff use advanced X-ray technology.
Digital X-rays have 80% less radiation that traditional X-ray machines and there is no need for processing film of the image. Your X-rays can be seen by Dr. Snider within seconds of taking them. Then he can go over the results with you on our in-room computer screens. Click here to learn more about digital X-rays.
Gentle Gum Treatment
Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, can adversely affect your overall health. Many patients don’t even realize they have gum disease until the damage is irreversible.
Gum disease can increase the risk for cardiovascular disease, low-birth-weight or preterm babies, and blood sugar control problems for diabetics. Our thorough evaluation of your teeth and gums will help us detect gum disease in the early stages so we can treat it and decrease your risk of developing serious medical conditions.
Dr. Snider treats mild to moderate forms of gum disease right in our office. Dr. Snider can diagnose the presence and severity of gum disease and prescribe an effective treatment including deep cleaning, antibiotic treatment and other gentle methods. Learn more about gum disease and treatment.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
Dr. Snider will fill your cavities with a tooth-colored composite that perfectly matches the shade of your natural teeth. No more silver and black fillings like you got on the old days. If the cavity is larger, he may use a crown or an inlay or onlay, a restoration that will permanently fill the cavity.
Dr. Snider can remove and replace “silver” fillings
If you have old amalgam or silver fillings or ugly fillings made of other metal, they can be replaced safely and easily by Dr. Snider. Old silver fillings are only meant to last for 10-15 years. Over time, they can break down or even fall out, leaving your remaining tooth structure hollow and unprotected. If your old fillings have been in your mouth longer that 10 years, it’s time to get their condition checked out.
